FUN IN THE SUN !!
WORK AND PLAY SAFELY IN THE SUN!

All ages, children to adults should be aware that sun causes damage to the skin over a lifetime.  Accumulated damage can cause skin cancers.

Consider the time of day you plan your outdoor activities. Avoiding the mid day sun is especially recommended for young children.  The hours before 10:00 AM and after 4:00PM are the best choice for everyone.

Sunscreens are available in a wide variety of choices.  One with an SPF of 45 or greater is recommended. Creams, gels, sprays and liquids are available.  Zinc Oxide is available in various colors or colorless.  Children are generally more compliant in application if you use a spray.  Most importantly, select the one that you will use!  Follow the reapplication directions on the sunscreen.

For comfort and protection, remember that what you wear is important.  Light weight, long sleeve shirts, hats, caps and sunglasses are good choices.

Hydration is very important for those individuals who work and play in the sun.  Take sips of water frequently or eat ice chips.  Drink sports drinks to replace electrolytes and minerals lost as you sweat.
